It's good to know when your tyres are getting low, for safety reasons and getting a Warrant of Fitness. In New Zealand, your tire tread must be at least 1.5mm deep across three-quarters of the tread pattern around the entire tyre.

This digital tread depth gauge is very easy to use. Just zero it on a flat surface then push the plunger into your tread to take a reading.
